Overview:
Create overall branding for a business providing home and commercial construction services. 3G Construction Services states that they take the time to know and understand the project and overall goals of the customer, working within budget to provide the final results they are looking to achieve.
Target Audience:
Home and business owners age 35 and over, looking for a fair and honest partner in their project; individuals looking for a personal approach to their project.
Key Design Criteria:
3G Construction Services gets its name from “For the Greater Glory of God”. The client wanted the logo to include subtle nods to his Catholic faith, without being
“in your face”. In thinking about icons that represent the Christian faith, the cross was an obvious element to include, but I also loved the dual meaning of the nail as a construction tool as well as a Christian symbol of the crucifixion. While at the surface, I believe the logo has a very sturdy, solid, industry-standard appearance, the subtle cross and nail speak directly to the client’s faith and the values that drive his business.
Typography:
In creating the 3G initials, I began by creating them on grid paper, rather than using an existing font. I wanted a very symmetrical, grid-based design to convey fairness, integrity, and value. From there, I rounded strategic corners to achieve a softer,
personal, and more humble appearance. I chose a simple font for the words,
“Construction Services” so as not to overpower the main element of the design.
By linking the two words, it holds them together as a single, secondary unit.
Colors:
The client requested using charcoal gray, red, and gold for the color scheme and I chose muted, warm tones for the colors suggested. By choosing warm tones instead of bright, primary colors, I believe it adds a sophistication and professionalism to the design, while again speaking to the personal, approachable aspect of the business.
